Asked Questions |
|
When is the new album coming out?
The latest album by The Ocean Blue, Davy Jones' Locker,
has been re-released by March Records.
(The band released an independent version in late 1999.) The Denmark EP single is
now available.
|
|
Is the band broken up?
No.
|
|
Who are The Ocean Blue?
(I'm working on a full bio answer for this one.)
|
|
When is the band going to tour, and when are they going to play
in (insert city name here)?
There are plans for a limited national tour in
March/April 2001. Check the Concerts page or the March
Records site for details.

Where can I find a copy of Beneath the Rhythm and Sound,
or Peace & Light, or the Westwood One CD?
These are all out-of-print. But they are still available
if you look for them hard enough, or are just lucky. Your best bet
is to subscribe to the band's listserv (see the Contacts/Links
page for details) and post a message asking if someone will make
you a copy. Some nice folks will probably make you a tape or perhaps
burn you a CD. If you are looking for an original though, scour
used CD shops and Ebay listings. Finally, there are some record
stores on the web that have rare stuff, but I don't know of any
personally.

|
Where can I get the lyrics to Davy Jones' Locker?
The lyrics can be found here.
Or, you can download a Word
doc that has all the lyrics.
|
|
Can I send you a rare TOB recording/video? Would you like to trade
tapes?
I'll glady accept any rare material; in fact, many things
on this site (the MP3s, the discography) are a result of items sent
to me from fans. However, I'm too busy to make and swap tapes, sorry.
|
|
How can I contact the band? What are some TOB resources?
Please see the Contacts/Links
page.

Why did Steve Lau leave the band? Was he kicked out?
This is something of a sore issue with the band. Steve
left following the BTR&S album to go work at Sire Records
and the parting was supposedly amicable. However, later in an interview
in a gay magazine, Steve stated he was kicked out because he is
gay. The band responded with a statement that vehemently denied
this charge.
|
|
What other projects are the band members involved in?
David Schelzel supposedly has done some collaboration
with Allen Clapp of The Orange Peels. Rob Minnig has done moonlighting
in a band called Magpies--they played live during 1999 but have
no recordings that I'm aware of. After leaving TOB, Steve Lau worked
with Sire records and produced a few albums, including Riverside's One. Bobby Mittan has played
on a Erin Echo song (his sister I believe) that was on a Daniel Amos
tribute album.

|
What bands sound like TOB?
Riverside sounds very much like TOB, cerca Cerulean. They released
a CD called One (that also happens to be produced by Steve Lau).
They also made an album called Taste but it was never released
as a CD. The tracks are floating around though. Fossil is another band with a TOB-ish sound.
Neither of these bands are around anymore. Worth noting is that
both of these bands opened for TOB at one time.

Who made this site?
This site began as a TOB fan page that first appeared
in 1996 and expanded into a full site in May 1997. The site is made
by me, Brian Pianalto. I've been a TOB fan since 1990 or so. This
website is an unofficial fansite--I am not in any way involved with
the band. All work on the site is done in my spare time. (If you
would like to support the site, make purchases through the Amazon.com
link at the top of the page.)

Why do the webpage fonts look weird, and what is this plugin that
I need?
This site uses Style Sheets to format font styles and
sizes. You need a 4.0 or higher browser to view the pages correctly.
I actually have no idea what the pages look like on older browsers--I'd
rather not know because it probably isn't pretty. The Verdana font
is the primary, intended font; the font is fairly common, but if
it's not installed on your computer, it is freely available for
download from Microsoft. The Flash plugin is used for animation
and graphics effects. It is included in most browsers and operating
systems, but if you don't have it you can download
it for free.

What are those flags on the main page?
They are international maritime flags. They spell out
"Deep Into."
