Waterworks Released -
The EP is now available
to order from the official
site. There are 6 tracks, but oddly only 2 with David's vocal.
Oed contributes several tracks, and there are a couple instrumentals.
David's "Pedestrian" is probably the highlight. There's a song
co-written with Allen Clapp that you might have heard TOB play
live a few years ago.
On
Tour, and the return of Riverside - Several East Coast
dates for September have been announced. Attendees of the
Philadelphia show will get a special treat because Riverside
is reforming to perform as the opening act! Here's a list of
venues:
Official Band Website - The official
site at www.theoceanblue.com
has launched with a fair amount of content. Cheers to Brett Schmitz
for the heads up; jeers to the band for not notifying anyone about the launch,
as usual.
Waterworks EP - The big news from the official site is
a new EP called Waterworks. Supposedly it
will be available in April 2004, but anyone familiar with TOB will
take that with a nugget of salt. Here is a description from the
site:
Waterworks contains five brand new songs from the band and foreshadows a new full length in the not too distant future. Initially, it will be available exclusively in the shop.

Official Band Website and News - Visit www.theoceanblue.com
and you'll see a teaser page promising a new release and website "this summer." Here's what is known about this release
so far:
The release is probably going to be an EP of new material. "Summer" might be a little optimistic. Also it will
probably be initially available only through website orders. It might be self-published instead of using a label, like the
original release of DJL.
A lot of people have noticed that only David and Oed are pictured, and are wondering what this means. Nothing's changed.
Bobby is still around for whenever they need to play a gig or to record. Rob has retired from the band. Perhaps this is a news
flash to you because they haven't said this officially, but it's been the case for the past few years. This disappoints me
greatly, but at least Dave is still writing music occasionally instead of practicing law exclusively.
I'm hoping that once the site is running there will be an effective method of contacting the band. Right now
there's some uncertaintly as to whether their snail mail address is checked very often (or at all). I presume that
their theoceanbl@aol.com email is still active, but again I don't know how often that is checked either.
New TOB fansite- More TOB website goodness. Be sure to visit Lorelle Graffeo's outstanding Between a Slide and Crash website. Launched in June, it
features a terrific design and unique content and features. Bookmark it!

Cathedral
(wedding) Bells - If you're like me, you probably wondered if
there was any way in the world to get TOB to play at your wedding
reception, but discarded the idea. Well, Steve McCarty also had
that dream, and for him it became a reality. On February 8th, he
tied the knot and TOB was the band rocking the reception.
How'd he do it? Part of it, Steve says, was the lure of the ski
slopes. Apparently the guys in the band love to ski and Tahoe was
the perfect enticement. Steve was kind enough to send these photos.
Congrats to Steve and Aimee!

Riverside's Taste- There might not be any new TOB material coming out anytime soon, but you can now
order Riverside's Taste CD online. Previously only available as a bootleg on cassette, the former members of the band produced this CD using the master source tapes, so the quality is terrific. Definitely worth getting!

Rob- Missing from the upcoming shows, again, will be the long-absent Rob. A formal annoucement from the band is
apparently never going to happen, so you will have to put 2 + 2 together yourself. You just have to wonder if (and why) Peter
will again be announced as "filling in" for Rob.
As a tribute, here's a picture from Rob's last live performance with TOB, June 1997 in Reading, PA, harmonizing on "Past Future Perfect."
